# settings_input_component Advanced Audio & Video Issues
Sometimes the root cause of transmission problems lies not within the application itself, but in the deeper settings of your operating system or your network.
# volume_off I cannot hear others (despite active levels)
If you see the microphone icons of other participants fluctuating but still hear nothing, the problem is likely with your computer's audio output settings.
# 1. Check the Volume Mixer
In Windows, volume levels can be controlled individually for every application (e.g., your browser). It is possible that the browser is muted there.
- Procedure: Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar > Open Volume Mixer.
- Ensure that the slider for your browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox) is turned up.

# 2. Set the Default Playback Device
Check if Windows is sending the audio to the correct device (e.g., your headset instead of internal monitor speakers).
- Path: Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound.
- In the Playback tab, select your desired device and click "Set Default".
# shield_lock Complete Blockage (No image, no sound)
In this case, neither video nor audio is transmitted. You may see your own image and microphone levels, but other participants only see a black screen, and no communication takes place.
# Possible Cause: Network Firewall
Strict corporate firewalls often block the ports required for real-time communication.
- Check: Run our System Check. Does an error message appear in the "Video Conference" section stating that no connection could be established?
- Solution: Contact your IT administration. They must open specific ports for WebRTC connections.
